Our Chaplain would be delighted to hear from any families who would like members of the family Baptised. Needless to say, on an island which attracts mainly retired persons, this opportunity does not present itself often, but we have a beautiful Baptistry, and baptisms can be carried out during the morning service, or privately, by arrangement with the Chaplain.
The Chaplain on Madeira does not have the legal authority to carry out a wedding ceremony; any celebration of a wedding must have been preceded by a legal church wedding or civil ceremony elsewhere. But our church and gardens, situated in the benign climate of a sub-tropical island, offer a beautiful environment for a wedding blessing or renewal of wedding vows, and what better way to celebrate the most important day of your life than when you are on holiday. Our Chaplain would be delighted to officiate on such an occasion and our churchwardens will happily help with arrangements for flowers, music, catering etc.
Funerals can be held either in the cemetery chapel or in the Church, with internment in the cemetery. Alternatively, we are sometimes asked for the burial, or scattering of ashes brought over from the UK. Our Chaplain is available to assist you at this time and carry out your wishes.
